Tech Spending Outlook Brightens

Execs are getting more upbeat on IT spending. So says a December survey of 900 chief information officers by CIO Magazine. Companies' top IT officials expect information technology spending to rise 7.8% in the next 12 months. That's up from 5.7% in November and 5.2% in October. But some areas of IT may get more of a boost than others. A higher percentage of CIOs expects higher spending on computer hardware, data networking and e-business applications software, while a smaller proportion expects gains in spending on telecom gear and security software.
